Marston Print

Marston was one of the first distributors to invest in print-on-demand technology. Using the latest, state-of-the-art technology, our Xerox iGen3 colour machine now provides print on demand and digital printing solutions to publishers around the world, producing standards of quality that are the envy of our competitors.

10 good reasons to use Marston Print:

  1. Superb quality

  2. Our Xerox Nuvera mono and iGen colour presses provide excellent print quality of halftones with maximum detailing, sharp text, deep solid blacks, and printed pages that have smooth, offset-like matt finish. So, whether you want colour or mono printing - or a combination of both - you can be sure that the quality of work will always be stunning.

  3. All manner of print available

  4. We can print books, journals, loose-leaf manuals, newsletters, brochures, flyers and postcards, as well as business cards, greeting cards, posters, and just about anything else!

  5. A variety of finishes

  6. As well as lamination in gloss or matt, we can score, fold, drill and perforate in almost limitless variety.

  7. Wide choice of bindings

  8. You can choose from our comprehensive range of binding options, including perfect and case binding, printed paper case, wiro and comb binding, saddlestitch and half-Canadian. We case bind in standard flat back cases or for that special touch try our rounded and backed binding.

  9. Excellent range of papers and substrates

  10. A range of traditional and non-traditional papers is available, and we always try to use paper that is acid-free and environmentally friendly. We can also print on many substrates, including our never-tear range and a variety of cards and plastics - and if there is something we don't have in stock that you wish to use we will always try to source it for you.

  11. CD and DVD production and copying

  12. We can burn CDs and DVDs and print straight onto the disk to provide a very professional looking stand-alone package, or as an insert in books and loose leaf publications.

  13. Variable data and personalisation

  14. Allows your books, brochures and flyers to be customised in numerous ways and in almost any quantity, helping you achieve the maximum impact for your product.

  15. Excellent standards of quality control

  16. Internal quality control checks are made on all proofs before being sent to you for approval.

  17. Free storage provision

  18. Once proofed and approved, files are stored in our data warehouse free of charge for quick and easy future access.

  19. Friendly customer service team

  20. Our efficient, knowledgeable and experienced customer service team is always on hand to give advice and support on all print jobs.

We can print almost any book of any format or length. Books can have printed paper bindings or loose leaf jackets, and we can convert your old loose leaf jackets into printed paper case covers.

Publishers can choose between our standard matt, bookwove, or bond papers, or you can use any other paper of your choice – if there is something we don’t have in stock that you specifically want to use, we will try and source it for you.

Our 'Managed Print' service means there is no longer any need to tie up your money and store large quantities of stock. As an increasing number of wholesalers and book stores cancel orders if books are not in stock and dot.coms insist on immediate despatch of orders, we can help by holding small quantities of stock that we replenish automatically to an agreed formula so you never go out of print. Alternatively, we can print on demand as an individual customer places an order. Or you can simply tell us when and how many to print. It's entirely up to you!

Although publishers usually give us electronic files, if you don't have these available we can take hard copies from you for scanning, and hold these in our data warehouse for future use.

For some time now, Marston has partnered with a North American digital printing company to provide for books to be printed locally. This means that we are able to offer print on both sides of the Atlantic, thereby reducing your carriage costs and improving delivery times. Marston can co-ordinate and manage this relationship for you. We can also arrange for Singapore based printing for local supply in the Far East.

“I have been very pleased with the quality of the books that Marston are printing for us. However, the other day I happened to compare the hardback edition of one of our books, digitally printed by Marston, with the litho paperback edition printed in Asia. The superiority of your printing, especially the sharpness and clarity of the halftone images, was frankly astounding. Perhaps our printing strategy, focussed mainly on Asia, needs to be reassessed”.

Gerald Jackson, Editor in Chief, NIAS Press (Nordic Institute of Asian Studies)

Loose Leaf

All sizes of loose leaf products are available, as are a range of ways of binding them. We can print ‘main works’, plus issue updates, and can supply and print binders as needed or use publishers’ own binders if preferred. Rather than reprinting entire folders, selected pages or sections can be updated and inserted, or we can simply mail out new sections or updates to the publisher or direct to subscribers.

Journals and Periodicals

We can print almost any journal or periodical regardless of size, length, colour, or frequency, to superb standards of quality. Off-prints of articles can be produced, as required.

Working alongside our specialist and highly-experienced journals team, Marston can also provide a full journals service, including handling subscriptions and payments, renewals, claims and free trials, as well as journal mailing via our Becks and Norpak mailing machines, and placing inserts within issues. We can even host and maintain journal web sites for our publisher clients.

Promotional Material

Marston Print can print all your marketing material – from publishers’ seasonal and subject catalogues, to all types of flyers, brochures, posters, newsletters, postcards, and other direct mail, as well as greetings cards, business cards, and just about anything else! No matter what you want to showcase, or who your target audience, we will ensure that all your marketing material is of the highest quality, and is produced efficiently, on time and on budget!

Mailing Services

Marston currently deals with around 300,000 book orders a year, and has links with about 45,000 accounts and many thousands of individual customers in well over 200 countries, so mailing is second nature to us! We can provide a complete mailing service for you, using our polywrap mailing lines for the despatch of books, loose leaf products and journals, as well as for promotional material. Working with a range of specialists, we can provide a track and trace service for consignments if required. Allowing us to mail for you ensures your product reaches its audience as quickly as possible – and at competitive prices.

“The copies of Sustainable Tourism just got to me and I am very pleased with them indeed. I think the quality is great and your turn around time is fantastic. We will now have copies at a very important conference which will strongly influence adoptions of the book in the Autumn and early 2011. I just wanted to thank you all...Very pleased to be working with you”.

Tim Goodfellow, Director, Goodfellow Publishers Limited
