  New Perfect Binder installed
As well as a move to larger premises the past few weeks have seen significant investment by Marston Lindsay Ross in state-of-the-art equipment, not least the new Duplo Quadrimax perfect binder ( pictured right ) This brand new technology boasts superior binding capabilities, with a normal maximum spine capacity up to 50 mm and a cycle speed in excess of 1000 an hour. Set up is such that times for changes to trim size are significantly reduced; all important in a print on demand environment.
Running out of precious office space?
Talk to us about converting your paper document libraries to electronic files at a reasonable price! We will be able to scan your old paperwork in bulk, convert it to Adobe PDF© format and return it to you on a CD. The electronic files will be returned to you in two formats – one optimised for viewing on the screen, the other for printing, in case you need to reprint an old document. There has been some concern in the recent media about the long term viability of electronic storage as technology becomes obsolete. The technology that we use for scanning at Marston Lindsay Ross is based upon image file technology rather than a proprietary format, which means that future applications will be able to access the scanned files. We do also store data as PDF files and protect it by backups and archive tapes which are tested regularly. As new storage methods become available we will transfer the data to keep it accessible using the latest technology. We are so confident about the safety and durability of electronic storage that we are well on our way to a paper-free archive, and expect to achieve this by the end of the year.
  New Domain Names
com, .net, .co.uk – which is best for me and how can I protect my digital identity? What about these new domains I keep reading about? Marston Lindsay Ross International is a member of Nominet UK, the organisation that manages the .uk domain space, and can register your .uk domain name for a very competitive price. We also register US domains such as .com as well as less common ones like .tv. We have been doing this for several years now and know the issues involved in what can be quite a complicated area. Talk to us about how best to go about looking after your digital identity. We can also give you accurate and impartial advice about the forthcoming new domain names such as .info and .biz, and whether you need to register them or not.
