Booksellers are required to obtain prior written authorisation to return books in
accordance with the policy outlined below. Parcels must be securely packed, attaching the
Marston authorisation label and enclosing the returns authorisation documentation with a
list of books and their corresponding invoice numbers and dates.
Overstocks. Books may be returned for credit no less than 6
months and no more than 12 months from invoice date subject to their being unmarked,
current edition and in resaleable condition. Credits will be issued according to price and
discount on original invoice.
Defective. Please obtain instruction on method of despatch as
the Publisher will bear carriage costs.
Damaged in Transit/Incorrect Shipment. Any incorrect shipment
and/or books received damaged in transit should be brought to the attention of the
Customer Service Department within 7 days of receipt and prior to any return. Instructions
regarding method of despatch will be forwarded.
CD ROM/Floppy Disks. Where a return includes a CD Rom or Floppy
Disk, no credit will be given if the cellophane wrapping is broken.
Old Edition/Out of Print. Title Pages will be accepted in lieu
of whole books if accompanied by an order for the new edition within 3 months of its
publication. Out of print titles will not be accepted for credit unless otherwise
specified by the Publisher.
Sets. No credit will be given for Part Sets which were supplied
as complete sets.
Books received in a damaged condition or outside the policy will not be
credited and the bookseller will be notified by means of a 'nil value' entry on the credit
note. This will be the only notification that books have been received at Marston in
non-resaleable condition and is your opportunity to send instructions regarding the
disposal of the books. If no reply is received within 2 weeks of the credit note date
the bookseller will forfeit any rights to the books concerned and Marston will reserve the
right to destroy said books. If you require these books to be returned to your premises,
your account will be debited with a charge of £5 per carton to cover administration,
packaging and carriage costs.
